The cost of recruiting sales people

Recruitment agency fess can be 20% of the OTE (On Target Earnings offered to a sales person. With Salaries starting at 40,000 this is a lot of commission.

The advantage of using an agency is that they can do all the leg work and vetting so you are left with supposedly the best candidates. The disadvantage is you are out of pocket if the candidate leaves you 3 months later. Also the agency can come back in 12 months time and poach your sales person as they know where he works and what he earns!

You could try one of the online sites like SalesJobs.ie or Monster or Recruit Ireland etc., but this means it is you who must do all the legwork and vetting, but it is cheaper in actual money terms.

But which is cheaper? That depends on how you value your time. Is paying €8,000 to a recruitment agency cheaper then you spending a number of your hours by your hourly rate (build it what you could be doing with this time) searching and interviewing.

What can you afford?
